OAFP 2030 - Third places: a movement towards more hybrid cities
Neither home, neither work, or a bit of both, third places are hybrids within the fabric of the city. The concept of third places emerged in the United States in the late 1980s and is now established in France as a public policy. We will explore the concept and its variations (theme, objective, governance, territory) through examples and readings. During the third place trial, you will impersonate a stakeholder of the third places ecosystem and debate a key controversy for thoses actors. You will also exercice your creative muscles in order to imagine the possible futures of third places. This course is geared towards students who are curious about hybrid work environment, urban planning and/or social organisations.
