This course aims at providing students with an overview of the finance function in industrial and services companies, with a description of activities and processes on the one hand, but also positions and potential careers on the other hand. Students will learn about the key financial indicators accompanying corporate strategies and measuring the performance of operations, for internal management but also external financial communication. Evaluation: Participation during the course 30%, group presentations 30%, final exam 40%.
The lecture will be based on presentations providing a high level overview of the activities in financial departments of industrial and service companies. The pedagogical approach is meant to be interactive with the view to address student's questions about the practical features and content of jobs in financial departments.
Students will be invited to prepare short group presentations associated with the topics addressed during the class, complemented by a final exam during the last class.
