BART 93A04 - Finding your voice and harmonising

The course is composed of the following points which may be taken chronologically or intermixed depending on the nature of and abilities within the class 1. Posture : we begin with establishing the physical posture necessary for good breath support and vocal emission. 2. Aural perception: We establish the individuals awareness of pitch and their ability to reproduce a given pitch and determine relative pitch difference as well as holding their pitch against other pitch intervals. 3. Identifying the vocal and choral emission zone; its use in daily speech and public address and its relationship with the singing/acting/lecturing voice and its breath control 4. Using musical prosody to train language rhythms and accentuation in English as well as compare between speech and song 5. Using all the above we prepare a capella songs in four part harmony beginning with rounds and building to vertical harmonic composition and then on to non vertical composition.. In this part of the course the object is to establish vocal confidence in small or larger groups which may be taken forward in the creation of groups outside the course structure
