F1IS 5635 - Principles of Wartime Diplomacy

**NEW COURSE**
In this course, based on the examples of Ukraine and other countries at war, we will explore differences between diplomacy conducted during peace and war. We will walk through every diplomatic step of how countries end on the edge of wars, wage them and try to prevent them, how they fight them, put them to an end and address postwar issues. Learning Outcomes:
1. Students will learn how countries and institutions fail to prevent wars, and will develop skills to prevent conflicts.
2. Students will learn the experience of Ukraine's diplomacy in running the war effort and develop respective skills.
3. Students will learn how to address issues brought up by the war while still fighting it and develop skills of strategic leadership and management

  • Managing institutional transition from peacetime to wartime diplomacy;
  • Polarizing with with partners in pursuit of war goals;
  • Condensing the decision-making processes;
  • Preparing peace plan and implementing them;
