BART 97A60 - American Literature on Stage

This workshop will propose to explore the literature of an American contemporary author, through a wide diversity of works (novels, short stories, poetry, screenplays, film adaptations, theatrical adaptations,...) From these literary works (and the societal and emotional themes that emerge from them), the students will propose an adaptation of one (or more) work(s) for the stage, integrating the various scenic tools (music, video, sound design, photography, stage design, etc.), and through a personal and sensible creative work. (Personal writings, drawings, recording, composing,…) Students will also discover the different theater professions and the production process for a theatrical creation. The students will work individually and collectively, by bringing together their different skills and artistic sensibilities, to create a final project. Objectifs pédagogiques / Academic expectations This workshop offers students: - to discover a unique contemporary literary landscape. - to share a sensitive and personal analysis of this literature. - to translate this impression artistically according to their personal skills - to discover the possible adaptations (theater, music, cinema, visual arts) - to develop and guide personal skills (acting, directing, dancing, singing, composition, visual/sound creation, etc.) as part of a stage creation project.
