F1ES 4215 - Interlinkage between Biodiversity and Climate Change during and beyond Agenda 2030

This seminar draws on work around the world as it links to biodiversity and climate change and other areas of intersection. Students will be introduced to the scientific, ecological and political dimensions of biodiversity loss and climate change impacts. Through the study of diverse processes, stakeholders and case studies, we will investigate the successes and challenges and the links to governance systems. The seminar will promote "active" learning, individually and in group dynamics, in order to get students used to being actors in environmental governance for a better understanding of current biodiversity loss and climate change impact issues and types of solutions. Students will have an opportunity to discuss and interrogate the various dimensions of multilateralism particularly around the Rio Conventions and beyond and the links to all the elements of sustainability – Social, Economic and Environment. At the end of this course, students will be understand the new dynamics and changing “face” of multilateralism in a fast changing world.
