KDEC 6025 - Introduction to public international law

This course provides a general overview of public international law; it aims at enabling students 1) to know the features of international legal persons, to master 2) the primary rules that govern international legal relations as well as 3) the rules that govern the making, interpretation and implementation of those primary rules. The course is divided into two main parts.

The first part offers analyses of general public international law. It focuses on: 1) the history and theory of public international law, 2) the sources of public international law, 3) the subjects of international law, 4) the use of force, 5) the pacific settlement of disputes, and 6) State responsibility.

The second part introduces to specific international law regimes. It provides analyses of: 1) international criminal law, 2) human rights law, 3) refugee law, 4) the IMF and the World Bank Group, 5) WTO law, and 6) international investment law.
