How to make decisions in a situation of uncertainty? How can we coordinate the variety of players involved in implementing a public policy? How can we assess the sustainability of a system? How to prepare for the unknown?
All these questions can arise for decision-makers at different stages of their careers, and are particularly exacerbated by the climate context in which our societies are operating.
The aim of this course is to prepare political science students - and therefore potential future decision-makers in organisations, whether public or private - to manage complex situations resulting from climate change. It is intended to give students an overall understanding of the various issues, players and tools involved in managing the climate crisis, and to provide them with an initial sense of ownership of these elements.

Autumn 2024-2025
Personal work (30%), group work (30%) and an in-class exercise (30%) will be used to validate the course (with attendance and general participation in the course counting for 10%). The three assignments relate to the main sessions proposed and will take place at the end of each session.
The course will be punctuated by contributions from actors relevant to the concepts covered in the sessions concerned. Some sessions will be organised around debates or group works that students will be able to prepare using the resources provided prior to the session(s) concerned. As far as possible, the course will be built around interactive and stimulating teaching material (videos, speeches, debates, extracts from documentaries or podcasts, etc.).
