KETU 3610 - The Digital Services Act and the role of civil society and academics in the regulation of digital pl

The 2022 EU Digital Services Act (DSA) aims at drastically increasing the accountability of very large online platforms (social networks and market places). A key ingredient of the DSA is to empower civil society and academics to be active players in the regulatory scheme, in particular by organizing access to platform data. During the course, you will learn the architecture of the DSA, discover the tools available for academics and NGOs, analyse practical cases that lead to enforcement by the EU commission and design new use cases. You will also have to propose (in group) your own use case and defend it at the end of the semester.
