OAFP 9040 - The European Union- A Security Provider?
This course provides a general introduction to how the European Union fits into a multipolar world by looking into its own way of dealing with external crisis, great power rivalries and war.
This course will focus on the EU's security and defense politics, touching upon questions of the Union's security and defense DNA, the way it defends its own values as well as those of enshrined in the international law. How does the EU's security and defense politics evolve, who/what are the drivers in this policy field, where do the difficulties in the evolution lie, what challenges need to be addressed by the EU and its member states to enable the Union to provide security?
The sessions of this course will allocate slots for students to make team presentations.
This course will be a mix of topical and theoretical approaches.

The assessment of students' performance will be based on the assessment of a group presentation (40%), a written paper Essay (40%), and class Participation (20%).
