O7IM 2040A - Asset Management in Europe

Asset Management in Europe aims at providing knowledge on how investment and portfolio construction take effectively place from an investment perspective today. After reviewing key assets management fundamentals, such as key concepts, general market development, passive/active, responsible investment trend providing the necessary foundation for the understanding of the business/industry, the course will focus very concretely on different assets classes (equity, fixed income, alternatives (illiquid),…) and investment style (growth, small cap…). It will deep dive in sustainable investment (ESG methods, ESG integration and Impact). Finally, it will review the chief investment officer's challenges to build an efficient portfolio to deliver an expected outcome to the clients.

The group presentation will represent 35% of the grade, the case study 35%, the class participation/news case 30%.
The course aims at preparing students for professional life, so it will be very concrete combining presentation on specific topics, concrete case studies and real life examples. It will include debates and discussions. Preparation material is available on the Internet through the website of selected products and asset managers.
