ASPO 23A00 - Thinking International Relations Globally
Espace mondial - Thinking IR Globally provides a critical outlook at global issues that are omnipresent but often neglected or simplified in the public debate. It will use rich illustrations to understand the profound interdependence of social, environmental, economic and security issues at the international level, while fully integrating International Relations into the training at Sciences Po's Collège universitaire.
Topics covered include: conflicts and security, global inequalities, environmental problems, and the "return of the sacred". This course will also draw on other perspectives from sociology, political theory and economics, human geography, and global and comparative history.

Cours magistral et conférences
English
Autumn 2024-2025
1. Continuous assessment in seminars: 2/3 of the final grade, consisting of: an individual oral presentation (which includes the creation and presentation of a map) ; one ‘dissertation' (paper).
2. A final exam: 1/3 of the final grade : a ‘dissertation' on a broad topic.
For students who will attend the method conference in French, the mid-term may be written in French.
However, the language of the final exam must be English. The exam subject will be common to both the Paris and Menton campuses (it will be held on the same day at the same time).
The teaching will be structured around three successive sequences:
1. The lecture dedicated on key elements. Students should take the time to review the slides before each session ;
2. A series of questions from the WOOCLAP platform on the course material of the session. This is an opportunity for students to ask questions on elements from the lecture that they have not understood.
3. A discussion on the main issues studied during the session
