ODEC 8045 - Cultural Diversity and International Trade

This course offers practical, guided exercises that provide tools for analyzing international trade agreements from the perspective of their impact on cultural diversity. It will focus on both International Trade Law and International Law on Culture. It will examine and reflect upon World Trade Organization agreements, bilateral and regional trade agreements, as well as UNESCO legal instruments in the cultural field. Particular emphasis will be placed on the 2005 UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, which addresses cultural industries and cultural goods and services, including in the digital economy.
