F1ID 5070 - Political Economy of Development and Growth
The course offers an advanced application of theories related to economic growth and development economics and political economy through the survey of international economic organisations and other global coordination attempts. While reviewing all types of countries, it in particular focuses on least developed and transition economies, exploring the relationship between international economic organisations mandates, policies and economic development. As a fully applied approach, the course will not mobilize mathematical formalization, but students enrolled are expected to have a background in economics.
The course offers a review of theoretical and practical core knowledge and a systematic application through group case studies. Students are to prepare each session with prereadings offered by the lecturer.
