DAFF 25A33 - Perspectives on Artificial Intelligence and International Relations

This course aims to provide perspectives on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and International Relations (IR). It explores the intersection between AI and IR using a combination of theoretical and practice-based knowledge and experiences through an interdisciplinary and participatory approach. The emphasis is on various key topics: conflict and war, diplomacy and negotiation, economic and trade relations, multilateralism and cooperation, regional integration and development. Using comprehensive insights, the course offers students an in-depth analysis of the international politics and practices of AI. With regards to the learning outcomes, at the end of the course, students should be able to: 1. understand the historical development of AI and its current global manifestations; 2. understand the rapidly changing field of AI in IR; 3. explore the possible future roles of AI in a globalised arena.
