This comprehensive course delves into the intricate landscape of technology regulation, focusing on key areas crucial for understanding the legal and policy frameworks governing the rapidly evolving digital landscape in Europe and beyond. Through a combination of lecture, case studies, and practical applications, students will gain an understanding of the legal structure and challenges surrounding technology regulation.
Four main topics will be covered: Internet law and policy, Privacy and Data Protection law, Digital Services Regulation and Artificial Intelligence Regulation. Each topic will be addressed with a critical analysis of the historical and latest developments so participants will not only acquire a general overview of the legal frameworks but also in a position to critically evaluate emerging issues in this domain.

Students will be assigned and graded on the following exercises:
1) 60%: Policy brief relating to tech legal issues prepared by groups of four students.
2) 35%: Two pagers on readings and documents assigned in class
3) 5%: Active in class participation.
