BART 97A26 - Alterity and Photography. Behind the Lens
This course is intended for anyone curious about photography and is keen on learning more. It will
explore how to look at the world through a camera lens and develop a photography language as an
image-making medium. It will examine the works of seminal photographers as well as varied
approaches to photographic representation through the prism of Alterity.
The course will offer a short overview about: Intimate & Conceptual Photography, Post-documentary,
War & Street Photography by studying some works & interviews (including creative process and other
essential tips and tricks).
The course will also cover the technical considerations by offering practical advice around
assignments. Each week students will be invited to a collaborative approach in order to experiment
photography. They will learn about how structuring a picture, finding the frame, the light and the right
point of view.
