The objective of the class will be to provide a global overview and understanding of the changing geopolitical landscape on the global energy scene.
The course will address the geopolitical challenges of the energy transition, the dynamics and transition of the oil and gas sectors, the global governance of energy (G7, G20 and COP26) with a focus on regional energy and climate policies (Middle East countries, Europe, Asia etc…) and national net zero strategies and policies.

● Preparation of a final paper
There are no formal prerequisites for this class.
Autumn 2023-2024
The evaluation of the course will be based on two grades: 50% for an in-class group presentation and 50% for an individual written paper (10 pages approximately) preferably on the same topic.
The written paper should be max. 5000 words, excluding charts and figures and should include references and citations.
The individual presentation by the student should be 10min and not more with a few questions for discussion raised.
The course is based on the three key components:
● Opening and lecture by the instructor followed by Q&A debate (30min)
● Group discussion based on the expose by the students (1/4) (60min)
● Case study or group work (G20 negotiations game, India case study) to deliver policies to solve a government challenge (30min)
