K7IM 2020A - Country Risk Analysis

Country-risk assessment is critical to international business, as a multi-disciplinary methodology used to anticipate risks related to an investment abroad. The purpose of this 12-session course is to provide students with: - A better understanding of the concepts and scope of country-risk, and the specifics related to each investor's perspective (horizon and nature of risks); - A basic knowhow about methodologies, data and sources (including those on the institutional environment) with focus on Sovereign Risk and Non Transfer Risk as used notably by International Rating Agencies and the BNP Paribas's own methodology used for a medium-to-long term corporate investment. - Professionals' testimony on their actual practice of country risk analysis

30%: MCQ test 70%: Writing a 1-page summary of Country Risk Analysis for the Executive Committee of a company or a bank (based on documentation materials provided for the exam)
The course will be delivered on site with formal presentations, discussions and illustrations; it is intended that students will be provided with slide presentations and suggested short readings prior to each course so that to concentrate the formal teaching sessions on clarifying, deepening and discussing the key concepts and tools.
