ADRO 25A18 - Global Environmental Gover. A legal approach

The course will investigate a variety of topics including the concept of global environmental governance, the development of institutions and norms governing the protection of the environment, with special focus on key principles of international environmental law, multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs), cooperation among States and the growing significance of non-State actors (subnational governments, nongovernmental organizations, business and corporations), or the diversity of regulatory approaches and related policy tools. Throughout the semester we will receive some guest lecturers who will share their experience working in international institutions.

There is no prerequisite for the course. It is for any student who is interested in the current challenges of the global environmental governance and who want to be able to critically take part in this crucial debate of the 21st century.
Spring 2022-2023
There will not be any in-class exam. During the course of the semester, you will first have to work in group on a specific topic related to GEG and present a group paper (30% of grade). As a final exam, you will have to submit a policy paper based on a set of background papers discussing some aspects of the issue that you need to consider in your analysis (70% of grade).
