K0SP 2035 - METHODES QUALITATIVES NIVEAU II (Français/Anglais)
This course is designed to familiarize students with the craft of doing qualitative research through first-hand experience. Students will gather in groups to conduct their own project in relation to the broad theme “Paris and its peripheries: public space and political life”. By inviting them to “get their hands dirty” in real research, this course provides students with the opportunity to reflect on the practical challenges of qualitative methods in a supportive and collaborative atmosphere. The 12 sessions will combine discussion time on the ongoing research projects and brief comments and remarks on the politics of qualitative research (research ethics, data collection and archiving, team work, qualitative data analysis software, writing, conducting research during a pandemic, etc.).

During Semester 1, the course « Qualitative Methods I » invited students to critically reflect on a variety of qualitative methods and the course « Research Design » introduced them to the various steps of a research project. The objective of this workshop is to put these teachings into practice.
Printemps 2022-2023
Students will gather in groups of 3 to 4. They will define a topic, produce a research question, design a methodology and conduct the research. They will write a 20-page report that critically reflects on the research process, how it led them to refine their hypotheses, and the main results found.
The first 6 sessions lay the ground for each research project (literature review, research design)
The next 4 sessions are devoted to discussing the challenges encountered by each group (debriefing)
The last 2 sessions are devoted to presentations of group projects and collective discussion
