OFIN 3175 - Getting Real: des objectifs stratégiques au business plan implémentable
Understand how companies (of different kinds) translate a strategic direction into specific objectives and an actionable business plan.
Throughout the semester, students will be given a strategic choice made by a company and will be asked to translate it into a business plan and a detailed implementation plan to deliver it (incl. development of hypothesis and building of excel model).
At the end of this 6-session class, participants will be fully equipped to build a comprehensive business plan as well as an implementation roadmap based on high-level assumptions as in any Corporate strategy professional situation, including Management consulting.
Ce cours est enseigné par Alban DU ROSTU, Directeur Général chez Le Fonds du Bien Commun, et Javier MARTINEZ, Partner chez McKinsey & Company.

We expect students to spend 4-6 hours preparing each of the cases on top of class assistance.
Automne 2022-2023
For each of the three cases that will be discussed in class, students will be expected to prepare a high-level business plan and a detailed implementation plan, which will then be discussed during the case discussion at class. The participation in class while discussing these three cases, as well as class attendance, will represent the class participation grade.
Additionally, students will have to work in small groups (4-5 people) during the semester to prepare a detailed business case and implementation plan for a given institution. The work will need to be synthesised into a power point presentation presented during class that will be used to grade the students.
Final grade will include two components: 50% class participation and 50% case write-up grade.
The class will be taught using on the “case method”, and it will cover cases from three different types of companies: (a) large corporation; (b) private equity; and (c) start-up.
