The world is going through a vast transformation and data is at its center. Data is an essential resource for economic growth, competitiveness, innovation, job creation and societal progress in general. Data is also the main resource that feeds Artificial Intelligence, a technology that is transforming many fields of our lives: from improving healthcare to music streaming and language processing and translation. At the same time, the vast amounts of data we are producing, and the fast developing and deployment of AI, entail several risks, such as opaque decision-making, gender-based or other kinds of discrimination, intrusion in our private lives, increased government and corporate surveillance and even risks for national security.
This course will introduce students to the main regulatory challenges presented by Data and AI and focus on the European Data Strategy to address them.
