This course will introduce students to EU competition law. It will examine agreements which
may restrict competition such as cooperation agreements between competitors, vertical
agreements and cartels. It will also examine abuses of dominant position and merger control
regulations. Through each of these issues, the class will provide students with an
understanding of how EU competition law views the market and competitors. It will also
emphasize the central role of concepts such as market power, efficiency and market entry.
The students will be subject to several multiple choices questions tests and/or required to draft essays as well as an assessment of class participation and short presentations.
