This seminar is offered in the context of the Sciences Po Chair in Sovereign Debt. The course aims at providing an in-depth and interactive treatment of a wide range of issues related to public debt management and sovereign debt restructurings. The seminar revolves around specific case studies, with interventions from prominent guest speakers, academics, practitioners, and government officials. This edition will focus on debt restructurings in Africa since the 1990s, with a particular focus on the recent evolutions.
The course is mostly oriented towards practice and policy. Relevant notions of economics (eg debt sustainability analysis), finance, and law are introduced or reviewed along the way.
