K2SP 3265 - Culture and Arts Economics

The course will provide an introduction to Cultural Economics and will be focused on the main analytical, statistical and evaluation issues of the cultural sector in the national and local economic systems. An important part of the course is dedicated to the demand for cultural products and it's evolution and interpretations. From the production side we will study cultural employment, the relation between culture and tourism and the sectors of cultural heritage, museums and performing arts. In the final part of the course we will analyze, also through European case studies, the role of the cultural sector in urban and regional economic growth and the methodologies for evaluating local development policies and strategies based on cultural programs and projects.
